The most recent controversies that had thrown bad light on the show paid dispute. The shows’ cast was meted out unfair treatment to female stars as the producers allegedly involved in unequal wages to male and female stars. According to sources, in season 11Kunal Nayyar, Jim Parsons, Johnny Galecki, and Simon Helberg earned $1million for a single episode for the season. While Kaley Cuoco has received wages on par with the male stars, Mayim Bialik and Melissa Rauch earned just $175,000-$200,000 per episode. Feminists and online activists raged over the unfair treatment meted out to female stars compared to male leads. But eventually, the cast took control of the situation by taking a pay cut of $100,000 which raised $500,000 per episode for Bialik and Rauch.

Couple on the show?

The leads Cuoco and Galecki dated for 2 years during the sitcom’s early years but it didn’t last long. However, the duo didn’t let their failed relationship impact the reputation of the show. Cuoco, in an interview, admitted that Galecki is her best friend despite the break-up.

Parsons’ gender identity:

Parsons’ wasn’t as open about his sexual identity as he is now. Parsons was in a relationship with Todd Spiewak since 2002 and finally got married but Parsons’ never confirmed their relationship. He declared his sexuality only in 2012, in an interview.

Copied show allegations?

The show has faced allegations of being copied from the show that aired in Belarus called Teopemuku (The Theorists). Critics claimed the show featured plagiarized content, characters, and similar title sequence. The other major reason for the show to end, according to sources, was this controversy. Although the creator Chuck Lorre expressed his dissatisfaction, the legal department could not force the show to end.

Bialik and the controversial statements

Audiences were repeatedly irritated with Bialiks’ unthought-of comments. She made news particularly when she made a controversial statement regarding vaccinations in an interview with the PEOPLE, in 2009, she revealed that she did not vaccinate her children. “We are not vaccinating our children, but I make no claims about peoples’ individual decisions,” she said. The comments resurfaced in 2015, but the actress reversed her stance and said she indeed had vaccinated her kids.

Feminism vs. Cuoco

Cuoco wasn’t free from the audience's rage. When she was asked if she was a feminist, 2014 and she replied “Is it bad if I say no?” she said that she was not really a feminist girl fighting for her rights or equality maybe because she never faced inequality.
These comments gave rise to heated debates which compelled the actress to take to Instagram and clarify her earlier made comments. She said her words were taken out of context and apologized if her words really hurt anyone.
